Honest Burgers Cardiff
You’ll find Honest Burger Cardiff on Church Street, just off St Mary Street. It has a range of beef, chicken, vegetarian and vegan burgers. Nearly everything on the Honest Burger Cardiff menu is gluten-free when you swap for a gluten-free bun, including the rosemary salted chips, BBQ chicken wings and sauces. I haven’t eaten here, and it gets mixed reviews. It seems to be marmite; you love it or hate it.
Fat Hippo Cardiff
Also on Church Street is a new burger place Cardiff, Fat Hippo. It is available for click-and-collect, delivery or dining in the restaurant. The Fat Hippo Cardiff Menu has over 15 different beef, buttermilk chicken and vegan burgers. All burgers are served in a toasted brioche with Hippo dusted fries.
🐾 The outdoor seating area is dog-friendly, and selected bar tables (at Manager’s discretion).
Grazing Shed
The Grazing Shed prides itself on making everything they serve in-house. That includes home-baked bread rolls, fresh burger patties and even their own pickles and sauces. Known for their Super Tidy Burgers, they’ve even been voted the number one burger joint in Wales. Veggie and vegan options are available. Find the burger restaurant on Barrack Lane.
Got No Beef
A 100% vegan burger shop receiving high praise is Got No Beef, a family-owned Cardiff business. Even non-vegans fall in love with the place. The burgers are often described as smoky, juicy and succulent. There are even wings and faux prawns. One of the top sides is poutine fries; chips, cheese and gravy. The restaurant can also be found on Barrack Lane.
Please note, Got No Beef is now closed
How are you getting around?
Getting around Cardiff has never been easier. With stops in Taffs Well, Radyr, Whitchurch, Llandaff North, Cathays, two in the city centre – Queen Street and Cardiff Central – plus Cardiff Bay. Transport for Wales offers Multiflex, which gives you 12 journeys for the same price as 5 returns. And, who doesn’t want to save money on burgers?
Burger Restaurants Cardiff Bay
Hubbox
My go-to burger is Hubbox in Cardiff Bay. One of my favourite staycation destinations is Cornwall, where Hubbox hail from. It serves decent burgers, mac and cheese and dirty fries. My go-to order is the Kali Chick burger; grilled chicken breast, chorizo jam, guacamole, charred pepper, chipotle mayonnaise and rocket. I also love that they use local ingredients and suppliers (some Welsh, but primarily west country). There’s even clotted cream in the burger buns!

Five Guys
Regular readers will know I’m not a big fan of large chain restaurants. I’m also intolerant to nuts, and the restaurant cooks their chips in peanut oil. Five Guys is famed for the dizzying array of fresh toppings you can choose from. You can find it in the Red Dragon Centre. There is also a Five Guys in the city centre on Caroline Street and on Newport Road.
Gourmet Burger Cardiff Bay
The Gourmet Burger Kitchen is no longer there. The closest GBK restaurant is in Bristol Cribbs Causeway or Bristol Cabot Circus.

Smokin Griddle
The Smokin Griddle burger restaurant in Cardiff can be found in the suburb of Canton. It is open seven days a week to sit in or for delivery and collection. Could it be the best burger takeaway Cardiff? Don’t forget to sign up for their mailing list, where you can get a free burger and fries on your birthday. Make sure you try the BBQ spice bites on the sides menu too.
Got Beef
The gourmet burger restaurant is on Whitchurch Road. Order a takeaway online or visit in the evenings. A favourite at Got Beef is the Heisenburger, with drunken onions and blue cheese, or the Bombay with curried bacon, coriander, and lime mayo. My order; Pepper Pig with a 5oz patty, ham hock, smoked streaky bacon, American cheese, cracked pepper mayo, American mustard, crispy onions and iceberg lettuce in a brioche bun.
Ansh Cymru
The burger restaurant and sustainable business is opposite Victoria Park. Ansh is the creation of a 4th generation farmer and a former primary school teacher. They created big juicy burgers named after local heroes and legends through mutual passion.
The Barti Ddu is the most Instagram-able; the Welsh black beef is served in a black charcoal bun with smoked streaky bacon, Welsh cheddar and seaweed rum sauce.
