Turkish Restaurant Cardiff City Centre
I am a big lover of independent bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Cardiff Turkish restaurant, Lezzet, offers a dining experience and authentic flavours. It is open daily between 12pm and 11pm, and due to its popularity, pre-booking is highly recommended. It is rated as the best Turkish restaurant in Cardiff.

Lezzet Turkish Kitchen Cardiff Menu
What is Turkish cuisine? My initial thoughts go to dirty doner kebabs, meze platters of flatbread, olives, hummus and feta cheese. But there is so much more to explore. The Lezzet Cardiff menu is full of Turkish delights (pun intended!) I should also say, I’ve never been to Turkey, so I have no comparison to eating in the country.
Starters include falafel and hummus, sucuk (grilled spicy beef sausage) and muska boregi (filo pastry parcels filled with feta cheese, spinach and fennel). Popular main courses on the Lezzet menu are the grills, which are served with bulgur and salad. Such as marinated lamb or chicken. There’s also moussaka, seafood casserole and stuffed aubergines.
Baklava is a well-known dessert, golden brown filo dough filled with crushed pistachios. There’s also sutlac, an oven-baked rice pudding, cheesecake and oven-baked pears boiled in syrup and served with ice cream.

The pricing is the biggest plus for me, it is incredibly affordable, and the plates are big. Alongside individual dishes, there are sharing platters and lunchtime specials where you can get two courses for £13.95. There’s also the Express Lunch Wrap (halloumi, falafel, lamb kofte, or chicken kofte served with chips, salad and hummus for £8.95.
Lezzet Cardiff Reviews
When I visited with my boyfriend Michael, we chose the Sultan’s Feast. A 4-course menu for £27.95 per person. It included:
First course: Mixed cold mezze plate
A selection of cold starters. Ours included hummus, shakshuka (aubergine, courgette, onions and peppers in a tomato sauce), tabbouleh, bulgur a, yoghurt and mint dip and beetroot dip. We also had a small bowl of olives and freshly baked bread.
Second course: Hot mixed mezze plate
I could have skipped this course. I’m not really into cheese, and it came with grilled halloumi, the feta parcels, kebab lamb and a spicy bit of meat – not sure what it was.
Third course: Choice of a mixed grill, salmon fillet or veggie moussaka
I wish I had chosen the moussaka; not sure what I was thinking. It comes with lamb kebab, lamb shish, chicken shish, chicken wings and ribs. I’m not a kebab girl and gave most of my meat to Mike. The bits I had were delicious, the rice was cooked well, and I loved the fresh salad.
Final course: Baklava
I’m intolerant to nuts, so I couldn’t have this. A different waiter to who took our order brought it over. I told him I couldn’t eat nuts, and they responded, “but you have the 4-course menu“. I had to explain; I was aware it is usually included but was informed I could have something else. They gave Mike my portion whilst going to find out. It meant that he had eaten by the time I got mine. I was given rice pudding instead, but I didn’t expect it to be cold. I loved the sweetness but didn’t enjoy how creamy it was. The few rice grains that were in it were tough. Mike loved the baklava, especially as he was given my portion too.
My thoughts…
The restaurant is bright and clean. We had a great table on the first floor and could people-watch. The staff were super friendly, but as it was so busy, and they were serving large tables, we were often forgotten about. I asked for a drink refill twice and didn’t get it until we had finished eating. However, we were given a shot with the bill!
The food was delicious and is fantastic value for money.
I give it a solid 8/10!

If you know when you’d like to travel, try to book in advance, and as soon as possible. Prices tend to rise the closer you get to the travel date. However, there is a vast array to accommodate all budgets.
