Asparagus and pea, or tomato and spinach. You can also add herbs and spices to add flavour and even cheese from your HEA allowance.
Prawn Cocktail – 1.5 Syns
Mix in some cooked and peeled prawns into a tablespoon of extra light mayonnaise, a tablespoon of tomato ketchup, a few drops of tabasco, salt and pepper. Put on top of shredded lettuce and sliced spring onions. Serves 2.
Scotch Egg – 1.5 Syns (each)
Scotch eggs don’t come much more impressive than this. Big, meaty and satisfying, these flavour-packed favourites are ideal for an afternoon tea. Instead of pork sausages to go over the egg, you can use Linda McCartney red onion and rosemary sausages which are vegan.
Savoury Snacks – Free
Ok, they aren’t on a traditional spread, but some Slimming World afternoon tea ideas include boiled eggs, crabsticks and chicken. All of these are free foods.
Asparagus wrapped in Parma Ham – 0.5 Syns for 2
Divide a slice of Parma ham into four long strips, and wrap one piece around an asparagus spear. Place on a large, non-stick baking tray and bake in the oven at 200 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until just tender.
Crudités – Free
Carrot batons, sliced peppers, celery sticks, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, radishes, gherkins and pickled onions are all speed foods on Slimming World. Want something to dip them in, how about this roast pepper dip?
Berries – Free
Even the top restaurants put berries on their afternoon tea as a decoration. Add the speed foods; strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries for a pop of colour.
Fruit – Free
You could also add green or purple grapes, sliced banana, peach slices, orange segments, halved plums or physalis fruit. All of which are free foods.
Mini Scones – 2.5 Syns (each)
