There are plenty of places to eat in Cardiff if you are looking for vegan friendly restaurants. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or plant-based, I have compiled a list of vegan restaurants in Cardiff. Grab a fork, and let’s dig in.

I have also included some of the cafes, restaurants and other places to eat in Cardiff that aren’t exclusively vegan. Some have exciting vegan menu options. This is by no way a definitive list of vegan and vegetarian restaurants Cardiff, so if you’d like anything to be reviewed and added, please let me know? Places to eat in Cardiff City Centre
Got No Beef
The restaurant started as a street food vendor is 100% vegan. Now Got No Beef has a space on Barrack Lane and serves burgers, CHKN wings, loaded fries, milkshakes and other fast food. All of the burgers are served with salad, fries or tater tots. Keep an eye out for their iconic black bun.
Atma
The Hare Krishna run vegan café serves a burger, wraps and more traditional Indian dishes and desserts. Found in the Capitol Shopping Centre, you can also participate in Yoga sessions, morning meditations or even film nights. Atma Cardiff is open for lunch, including wraps, curries, dhal, and thali platters.
Bigmoose Coffee Company
The charity and not-for-profit coffee shop want to leave the world better than they found it. Bigmoose Coffee Co supports mental health, homelessness and suicide prevention. The team wear funky t-shirts that change throughout the year, especially for Pride or Christmas, but usually, say “Be Kind”. The vegan food includes wraps, toasties, bagels and dishes of the day.
Mowgli Street Food
The décor is pretty here, with fairy lights everywhere. There is an excellent selection for vegans at Mowgli Street Food. If you can’t decide what to have, choose a vegan tiffin. The kitchen will choose what three dishes you get to try alongside some rice. The tamarind fries are also a highlight.
The Cardiff Stable
Yes, there’s vegan pizza Cardiff! The menu at The Stable Cardiff has a good range of vegan options, which are clearly marked. One of the highlights is the Killer Katsu pizza has breaded vegan chicken, edamame beans, carrot, nigella seeds and a katsu curry sauce base. You can even have a bottomless brunch which includes pizza, dessert and 90-minutes of free-flowing lager, cider or prosecco.

Wagamama
Many of my regular readers will know I’m not a big fan of chain restaurants. But I make an exception for Wagamama’s. The ingredients aren’t generally local, but I like the food is cooked to order. There is a separate vegan menu; in fact, 50% of their menu will be meat-free by the end of 2021.
Barker Tea House
Splendid breakfast, brunch, lunch and exquisite afternoon tea. Barker Tea House is an experience you won’t forget, especially the vegan options. There is seating outdoors and indoors, including a cosy upstairs with antique armchairs to relax in.
Head of Steam
On Church Street is the craft beer bar and restaurant, Head of Steam. Meatless offerings here can’t be accused of being boring. Four out of the ten pizzas are 100% vegan. There’s also burgers, nachos, sides and fries. There is such a cool vibe here; you won’t be disappointed.

Pho
Pho is a Vietnamese restaurant where you get decent portions packed full of flavour and excellent customer service. Everything is made fresh, other than a few sauces, and nothing arrives pre-packaged or frozen – my type of restaurant. If you are vegan or gluten free, you can eat nearly all of the menu. You need to try their freshly made ice tea. It’s so good!
The Greenery Kitchen
For plant-based fast food, head to Greenery Kitchen in Cardiff Indoor Market. There’s a variety to choose from, including a burger, tacos, bowls, soup, sandwiches and baguettes. Plus, sweet treats and drinks. The market is open Monday to Saturday between 8am-5pm.
Update – unfortunately, Greenery Kitchen is now closed after being hit hard by the pandemic.
Wahaca
The Mexican restaurant is found opposite John Lewis. Wahaca was created by Masterchef winner Thomasina. The extensive street food vegan options from tacos to enchiladas, daily specials to a churro dessert. You can get a decent tequila too.
Secret Garden
Found in Bute Park inside a walled courtyard. The Secret Garden is a charming outdoor café, perfect for a stop-off when riding or walking. Items are constantly changing as they use local ingredients. Still, you can expect a range of vegan milk for tea and coffee plus vegan sausage rolls, sandwiches and cakes. I love taking Ivan the Irresistible here, as the staff love handing out dog biscuits, and he loves taking them.

Greazy Vegan
Unfortunately, Greazy Vegan doesn’t have a fixed abode. The restaurant used to be on Castle Street in the city centre, but with it closing, structural problems with the building and COVID-19, a decision on where to open next is pending. However, it is one of the street food in Cardiff vendors and can often be found at Corp Yard.
Get on the train
Getting around Cardiff has never been easier. With stops in Taffs Well, Radyr, Whitchurch, Llandaff North, Cathays, two in the city centre – Queen Street and Cardiff Central – plus Cardiff Bay. Thomas Restaurant
You can have a vegan breakfast, brunch, lunch or evening dinner in Thomas Restaurant. All of the food is homemade using local ingredients and produce. A highlight is the vegan afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones and cakes for £14 per person. You can even have a vegan bottomless afternoon tea with 2 hours of free-flowing prosecco for £29.

Best places to eat Cardiff in Grangetown
Vegetarian Food Studio
The Vegetarian Food Studio is family-run serving Indian food. The menu is clearly labelled with vegan options. In fact, the majority of the Vegetarian Food Studio menu is vegan friendly. If you want flavour, you’ll love eating here.
Aubergine Café
The vegan cafe Cardiff is on Clare Street but used to be in High St Arcade in the centre. All food is vegan, even the “chicken” tikka and Jamaican “mutton” curry. The menu also includes sandwiches, pizza and sweet treats. Aubergine is also autism-friendly, even being founded by a small team of autistic adults.
Best restaurants Cardiff in Pontcanna
The Lazy Leek
The plant-based street food shack can be found in the Kings Road Yard in Pontcanna. The Lazy Leek take their impact on the environment seriously and use locally sourced fruit and vegetables and organic ingredients where they can. So, what’s on the menu? It changes all of the time, but you could expect mains, sides and desserts.

Mugs and Momos
The independent cafe is set in a Tibetan Buddhist Centre. Serving entirely vegan and gluten-free food, Mugs and Momos offers a mixture of healthy and indulgent options from curries, cakes, or British classics like toasties and soups. They’re even on Uber Eats if you want a Vegan takeaway Cardiff.

Vegan Restaurants Cardiff in Cathays
Society Standard
The creative but straightforward menu has a range of vegan options that won’t leave you disappointed. The meze platter is a great sharing starter and will get your tastebuds fired up. Often labelled as good honest food, at Society Standard, you can expect a decent potion from breakfast through to dinner.
Vivo Amigo
The Indian, Mexican fusion restaurant has an affordable menu that is packed with vegan options. Favourites at Vivo Amigo on the vegan menu include empanadas, nachos, quesadillas, tacos and burritos. You can find the restaurant on Whitchurch Road.
Svago
Homemade Italian food with some of the best vegan options. Starters include bruschetta and Zuppa before moving on to mushroom risotto, chickpea ravioli or linguine Pomodoro. There’s even vegan cheese to put on top. Svago is a gorgeous independent restaurant.
Maria’s Greek Taverna
Suppose you want to eat at an unpretentious local restaurant with excellent customer service. In that case, Maria’s Greek Taverna will be for you. Vegans are well looked after here. The most heard comments of those who have eaten here say that the food is fantastic and you’ll get a huge portion.
Wild Thing
Probably one of the best vegan breakfast places in Cardiff. The brunch-style café opens for breakfast and serves porridge and pancakes and soup, salad, and sandwiches. Wild Thing is a not-for-profit business aiming to make plant-based, good food accessible for all. As well as getting the community to eat more vegetables, they want to reduce environmental impacts and fight food poverty.

Kaspa’s
A dessert lovers paradise. Admittedly the majority of the menu of waffles and sundaes isn’t dairy-free. However, at Kaspa’s Desserts, there is a range of sorbets, smoothies and a vegan cake to choose from. The nuts about toffee vegan cake is a big hit with non-vegans too!
Vegan food Cardiff on Albany Road
Anna Loka Cardiff
Probably one of the most well-known vegan restaurants in Cardiff is Anna Loka. Open for breakfast with things like smokey rasher baps or the cali breakfast with sausage, rashers, toast, avocado, fried mushrooms, tomato and scrambled tofu. Lunch offers include burgers, hot dogs, wraps and a food bowl with more heartier meals in the evening.
Vegan Restaurants in Roath Cardiff
Luna’s Vegan Corner
The vegan restaurant Cardiff opened in the summer of 2019 and has become a foodies favourite. The menu is small, but you will still have difficulty picking which dishes you want to try first. From pasta to risotto, burgers and buddha bowls. Luna’s Vegan Corner even serves a Sunday roast.

Juno Lounge
Do you love being asked if you want to see the vegan menu when you arrive? And, get excited when it has a full page of items on it? At Juno Lounge, there’s brunch items, tapas, sandwiches, salads, main courses, sides, puddings and cakes.

Blossom Café
On Wellfield Road is Blossom. Sit back and relax with handcrafted cakes, Turkish pastries or a freshly baked bagel. You can even have a vegan afternoon tea. It is incredibly Instagrammable with flower walls and a marble floor.

Fino Lounge
By day Fino Lounge is a great café or lunch spot, and by night it livens up. Cocktails anyone? It is deceptively big and spread over two floors. Plus, the front windows open up in the summer. The vegan menu is extensive. Open in the morning for breakfast and brunch, then sandwiches, salads and burgers for lunch. In the evening you can expect main meals and tapas.
