I’m trying out Jolie Beauty Second Skin Highlighter. Highlighters are so trendy nowadays. So, we have come a long way from the glitter that we used to cover ourselves with in the ’90s and ’00s. Highlighter is a make-up that attracts light and can create the illusion of brightness. Moreover, it is a secret weapon for a youthful, healthy glow.

As a super pale person with rosacea, I have to be wary when choosing blusher, bronzers and highlighters. So, finding the right one is very difficult. It needs to sit lightly on the skin, on top on any potential flushing, and so it doesn’t build up and sit in my wrinkles – as much as I don’t like to admit it, I am the wrong end of my 30’s. If it’s too heavy, too dark, or has an intense pigment, it won’t look natural on me – which is the look I go for.

Firstly, highlighter reflects light. Used for contouring, to brighten the skin and on a given area to create the perception of depth and angles. It should be used to gently accenting our best features. Instagram images of women who look like the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz have become the norm. Is this the look we are going for? God, I hope not. On what planet do metal stripes all over your face look healthy or normal, let alone beautiful? I believe we have lost sight of the original purpose of highlighter.
Is Jolie Beauty good?
Since lockdown, and working from home, I don’t usually wear make-up unless I’m leaving the house. When I do, it is only a touch here and there. I have been using Jolie Beauty make-up blushers, bronzer and now the highlighters which are so light, and you can’t feel it sitting on the skin. It feels natural, vibrant and fresh. When using it, there’s no fallout from the powder, meaning there’s no wastage or mess everywhere. It is also buildable if you did want a more prominent look than I go for. A little goes a long way. It also stays on all day, and you would only need to touch up to go from a day to evening look.

The colours are fantastic, it is so soft, easy to apply and comfortable to wear. As the make-up is so light, it is effortless to remove. You will have no problem with your usual face wash or cleanser and toner.

My thoughts on Jolie Beauty Second Skin Highlighter
So excited that the Jolie Beauty Highlighters are now in my make-up bag. I’m addicted to them. And I rarely fall in love with a beauty product. Even if I am only popping out to do the weekly shop, and the face mask almost completely covers my face, I’ll pop on Saintly to give my skin a glow. I can’t wait to try out some of the other products in the Jolie Beauty collection when my make-up bag needs topping up.
