Breakfast Buffet
Start your morning with the all-important breakfast. Wondering what is included in a Holiday Inn breakfast buffet? Expect freshly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, pastries straight from the oven, cereals, toast, and plenty more – all served with coffee or tea.
I headed down towards the end of breakfast service and was impressed to find the buffet still fully stocked. Everything was piping hot – not always a given with buffets – and the quality was spot on. The sausages, in particular, deserve a special mention; perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and definitely worth going back for seconds.
And, if you’re after a caffeine boost at any time of day, there’s a Starbucks in the hotel.
Lunch at Holiday Inn
Does Holiday Inn Filton have a restaurant? Yes – the Lobby Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.
At lunch, the restaurant put on an impressive spread for us. My personal favourite was the vibrant superfood salad – a colourful bowl brimming with baby gem, rocket, sesame seaweed, cucumber, edamame, juicy mango, pomegranate pearls, and grilled chicken. Fresh, light, and packed with flavour, it felt both nourishing and satisfying.
Alongside this, we sampled a comforting tomato and basil soup, warm focaccia sandwiches, a fragrant chicken curry with fluffy naan, sweet-and-spicy mango prawns, fresh fruit, and a classic Eton mess for a touch of indulgence.
On a day-to-day basis, lunch here keeps things casual with familiar favourites such as sandwiches, burgers, and pizza – the kind of easy crowd-pleasers that work whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down with colleagues or family.
Dinner at Holiday Inn
Dinner feels more indulgent. My choice? I began with the Japanese duck and vegetable dumplings (280 kcal), delicate little parcels bursting with flavour. The sesame seaweed added a savoury crunch, the sliced chilli a gentle heat, and the hoisin dipping sauce tied it all together with a sweet richness.
For my main, I chose the salmon fillet (703 kcal), which arrived perfectly cooked – crisp skin giving way to tender, flaky fish. It was served with a Sicilian-inspired caponata of tomato, aubergine, and olives, bringing a Mediterranean depth that balanced beautifully with the herb-diced potatoes and fresh fine beans.
To finish, I indulged in the chocolate truffle torte (454 kcal). Smooth, rich, and intensely chocolatey, it was offset by a sharp raspberry coulis and jewel-like morello cherry relish – a dessert that managed to be decadent yet refreshing.
I know calorie and nutrition information isn’t everyone’s preference, but I loved that it was clearly displayed. It helped me keep on track with my goals, especially knowing where the protein-rich choices were, while still enjoying a full three-course meal.
Drinks are plentiful too: Mahou, Stella Artois, Camden Town, Corona Extra, Doom Bar, and Kopparberg are on tap, alongside a wine list, cocktails, and soft drinks. The bar area is relaxed and even has puzzles and games to keep you entertained.
Work and Stay in Comfort

The Lobby Bar doubles as a practical workspace, with hot-desk areas ideal for catching up on emails or holding informal meetings. I made use of the space after check-out and found it a comfortable, well-connected spot thanks to the reliable free WiFi and relaxed atmosphere. And, of course, an iced chai latte from their Starbucks!

A visit to Aerospace Bristol is a must while staying nearby. Walking into the hangar and seeing Concorde up close honestly took my breath away – it’s one of those moments that makes you stop in awe. The museum is well laid out, with fascinating exhibits that bring aviation history to life.
Blaise Estate has several points of interest, including a castle, a mansion house, now a museum, and the nearby Blaise Hamlet. All of this sits within 650 acres of parkland. The incredible estate combines woodlands and fields. Because of this, numerous walks lead to Kings Weston, Sea Mills and Coombe Dingle.
Tyntesfield House and Gardens is a National Trust property. The large Victorian Gothic revival house has extensive gardens and 150 acres of parkland. The Library has the most extensive Victorian book collection owned by the National Trust, and there are more than 60,000 items in the house that have been catalogued, including an unexploded Second World War bomb.
