There has been a recent growth of lifestyle influencers and bloggers. Even though blogging is not a new niche, having the time during lockdown has led to the rise. Blogging has changed my life. Blogging has been a part of my life for some time. It is not always easy; it takes time, skills and patience. Here’s my own personal experience over the last few years.

By day, I’m a Marketing Manager for a hotel group. I cover everything from travel, tourism, eating out, weddings, conferences and special events. I often have to attend networking events. When talking to the other businesses in the room and learning about my profession, I would be asked what they should be doing in their marketing plan. The first thing I would ask is if their website had a blog section.
Having a blog on a business website is a fantastic way of raising awareness and sales. If done correctly, of course. Suitable blog topics need to be researched, along with keywords, SEO and affiliates. As well as having the relevant image. Blog posts are also brilliant for promoting on your social media, especially if you are limited for time or don’t have anything pressing to post.
Practise what you preach, starting a personal blog
So, during these encounters, encouraging businesses to blog, the next question would be, “what do you blog about?” It got me thinking, perhaps I should practise what I preach. Should I start my own blog?
I have been writing blogs professionally for years. Even if to start with, they were called something else. It was often discussed that we needed “a piece” for the website or put up the copy from a recent article or press release.
What hobby that you have cultivated changed your life?
How has blogging changed my life? My blog has gone through many reincarnations. Being a lifestyle blogger and influencer, and blogging about my life, was the most natural choice. It meant I could write about several topics and categories without being restricted.
Real Girls Wobble went live in May 2018. Initially, I didn’t tell anyone that I started to blog. I never intended it to be something to do regularly. Just when I had the time, energy or was particularly moved. Now it is something always on my mind. Getting inspiration throughout the day.
What is blog writing?
My experience of being a blogger has also allowed me to expand my skills, which has benefited my day job. Bloggers these days need to be creative writers, editors, proofreaders, content planners, website designers, SEO and keyword experts, photographers, social media influencers, marketers and sales negotiators. Now, I’m always asked about blogging.
Writing
Blogging has allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings. I have always been passionate about writing but had no aspirations to be an author. My blog platform enables me to showcase my writing to people around the globe. It has also boosted my confidence and belief in my skills.
Learning
Reading and writing blog posts on a variety of different topics has opened the world to me. I have learned about other people’s lives, experiences, beauty, fashion, and blogging tips and tricks. It is incredible what you can learn from others, also sharing the same journey as you.
Making money
The blogging experience has also given me an additional way to make money. The extra revenue income comes from adverts, affiliates and sponsorship. I also worked with new brands and my favourite businesses as a spotlight influencer. However, it’s not easy, you have to put the hours in to increase your organic blog traffic.
Friendships
Finally, my blog experience has allowed me to make new friends. By attending launch nights, press events and blogging brunches. As well as digital friends. It is not something I expected but something I am incredibly grateful for. Talking and engaging with people with a shared interest is definitely one of blogging’s most extraordinary things.
I started a creative writing blog
So, these are a few ways that blogging changed my life. I’m so glad I started. It is something I really love. Is blogging for you? If you are considering starting a blog or are currently building and growing one, hopefully, you can relate to what I have written. As always, if you are feeling stuck or have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
