As I always post honest reviews, I didn’t think working with the Hotter Shoes Cardiff Store was for me. I couldn’t have been more wrong! There are so many bloggers and content creators out there who take all offers thrown at them. I’m in the lucky position where I don’t have to. I want people to believe in any partnerships I promote, so I have to believe in them, too.
Honestly, I’d never heard of Hotter Shoes before. After a quick flick on their website, I nearly said no, thank you, but something made me want to find out more. Initially, I thought the shoes were old-fashioned. Since lockdown, I have been wearing my trainers and walking boots more, but surely, I’m not old enough to invest in comfortable footwear. However, some styles stood out – both practical and fashionable. I was already picturing what dresses, skirts and trousers I could pair them with.
Are Hotter Shoes for Old Ladies?
Before I tried Hotter Shoes, I knew little about the brand. However, it’s got a reputation for being made for older women. Whilst there are some shoes in the collection that your mum or grandmother would gravitate to, there are styles for all ages. I think it’s because they offer comfort, quality and support – not something you think about in your 20s. So, toss aside that misconception; Hotter Shoes are for timeless fashionistas who know a good thing when they see it.

As a tall, curvy girl, shopping is a chore, not an enjoyable experience. However, I’ve always enjoyed shoe shopping. Working from home four days a week, taking Ivan, my rescue dog, for long daily walks along the Taff Trail, up mountains, through the countryside, or to the beach, as well as plenty of staycations, my daily footwear does tend to be comfortable rather than a killer pair of stilettos.
So, what shoes did I pick in Hotter Shop Cardiff, and how did I pick them?

Before deciding, it was essential to get my feet measured. The fitting process ensures that every customer finds the perfect pair of shoes. Firstly, the girls in the shop were lush! They made the whole experience fun. You step onto the machine, which measures the length, width and height of your feet, plus the arch type to determine your exact size. I’ve always worn a 6, and the shoes I chose were a size 6. However, the machine indicated that I’m a 6.5.
The fitting service goes beyond just measurements. The staff will engage with you to understand your lifestyle and any specific requirements you may have for your shoes. Based on your preferences, the staff will guide you through the various styles and help you try on the shoes. You’re also free to walk around, check the fit and assess the comfort level.
Considering I initially thought the brand was for geriatrics, choosing was a challenging task!
Chase II Trainers
I wanted a pair of trainers that I could wear for everyday adventures. Enter Chase II Trainers, designed for those who crave style and functionality. They are super lightweight, have cushioned insoles and are super cute. The super lazy person in me loves that I don’t have to do the laces up every time I put them on. The zip is so handy.
I chose them in camel, a tan colour. But I would love a pair in sage metallic (a light blue) and blush (a light pink). There are plenty of colours to choose from.
Valley GTX Womens Trainer
I do a lot of walking and exploring and want to avoid wearing my chunky walking boots during the summer months. So, for my second pair of Hotter Shoes, I choose the Valley GTX Trainers. They look great but are super practical, too. The fit ensures comfort; they are waterproof and have a breathable barrier against the elements. The striking blue hue adds a touch of vibrancy to the urban outfit or nature retreat.
Women’s Hotter Shoes After Care
With 50 years of experience in the industry, you know they will be good quality and last. But aftercare is important. The ladies in the store told me that some customers have shoes that are over 15 years old because they last, especially if you look after them. Wow, imagine owning a pair of shoes for that long!
I have never owned a pair of shoes like this before. I didn’t even have to break them in. Usually, when I have new shoes, I get blisters on my heels or have to wait a few wears until they stretch. Sometimes, I also have to swap what I’m wearing when my feet ache. These are so comfortable that I forget to take them off.

Most Hotter shoes have millions of air bubbles in the sole to contract and cushion your foot, so the shoes feel lightweight and comfortable. Soles are bonded, not glued, meaning they last a long time. The insoles are also removable.
Since the brand started, Hotter Shoes have been made in the UK and manufactured in Lancashire, recognised as the most advanced shoemaking facility in the world. Having the factory here has enabled the company to control the production process fully. Hotter is the UK’s largest shoe manufacturer.
Are Hotter Shoes Good for Plantar Fasciitis?
Are Hotter Shoes good for your feet? Last year, out of nowhere, I developed plantar fasciitis. It is an inflammation along the bottom of your foot. It can cause pain along your arches or in your heel. You have to wait for it to recover, but the fastest way is with low-impact exercises to rebuild the stability in your ankle and fallen arch and strengthen the tissue along the sole of your foot. One day, you’ll wake up and realise it’s gone.
It’s pretty painful! Having ultra-lightweight shoes designed with comfort tech to absorb the shock is a great way to get you back on your feet.
