Whether you’re looking for the perfect Instagram photo, a family day out, somewhere to pick your own blooms, or a dog-friendly countryside adventure, there are some fantastic sunflower fields in Wales. From the famous sunflower fields at Rhossili on the Gower Peninsula to Mid Wales and the Vale of Glamorgan. Many locations also offer maize mazes, wildflower meadows, children’s activities, food stalls, and opportunities to take home your own freshly cut sunflowers.

Vale Pick Your Own
Greenland Farm is known as Vale Pick Your Own. This year, there are no sunflowers, but you can pick your own strawberries or head to the flower field to pick your own wild flowers. They include poppies, marigolds, cosmos and cornflowers.

Sunflower Fields in Cardiff
Clearwell Farm
The sunflower field at Clearwell Farm is a labyrinth of paths through the maize field. There is a selection of outdoor games, including welly wanging. The 200 acres of the farm are used to grow wheat, barley, oats, linseed and cider orchards to red tractor standard. Head to the farm shop for fresh veg and flowers. Stay as long as you like, and you are welcome to bring your own picnic.

Forever Flowers
Thousands of beautiful metal flowers will be on display in the grounds of Cardiff Castle. Forever Flowers is organised by City Hospice. The event is inspired by the ongoing challenges around bereavement and to support people with their grief. In 2022, there were sunflowers, daisies in 2023, roses in 2024, and daffodils in 2025. This year is poppies.
Dates: The flowers are available to purchase. They will be on display at Cardiff Castle between 1 and 8 August 2026.
Cost: Forever Flowers can be purchased for £28 per flower and can be personalised and engraved for an additional £7.50. Visiting the display is free. There is a fee to enter the castle buildings. However, if you live or work in Cardiff, you can get a key to the castle.

Sunflower Maze Swansea
Rhossili Sunflowers 2026
One of the most famous sunflower fields UK is in Rhossili Bay. The spectacular display of sunflowers in the Gower National Park attracts thousands of visitors yearly, with people travelling far and wide to get a glimpse. With 2,000 metres of banks and hedges, the sunflower arch and swing are both popular Instagram pit stops.
Rhossili Sunflowers is run by Robert Morgan of Gowers Farm and Gower Fresh Christmas Trees. Check out the Seafood Hut, which uses local produce and ingredients. Plus, delicious cakes and doughnuts. Many have reviewed the field, but Side Street Style has covered everything. Or check out Rhossili Sunflowers Facebook.
Dates: When can you see the sunflowers in Rhossili? July 2026; exact dates will be released closer to the time. The end date depends on how long the blooms last, but they usually last until early September. Rhossili Sunflower Field opening times are daily between 10am and 7pm. When wet, they close at 6pm.
Cost: The entry is £4 per person and £3 for children. There is a free children’s trail where they can collect stamps as they explore the fields. It’s recommended that you bring cash, as the card machines are temperamental (due to their location).
Car Park: The Rhossili Sunflowers car park is managed by the National Trust, which is free for members. It costs £3 for 2 hours or £6 for a full day. Alternatively, there is a bus from Swansea to Rhossili.

Sunflowers in Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire Sunflowers
Trefaes Ganol Farm is on seven acres of fields, growing around 500,000 sunflowers. Alongside the flowers are a wildflower meadow, a picnic area, and a woodland play area. You can bring your own picnic or purchase on-site light bites and drinks. Stroll through the fields and pick some flowers to take home. There’s also a scarecrow trail created by the children from Ysgol Gynradd Abertefi.

Cost: £8 per car. If you intend to pick sunflowers, remember to bring secateurs. Flowers are just £1 each.

Sunflowers in Mid Wales
Porth Farm
Four acres and six different varieties of sunflowers, alongside a two-acre maize maze, can be explored at Porth Farm. The farm also has a woodland wander, picnic seating and Welsh food and drink on sale.

If you’re in Mid Wales, check out the Elan Valley; this peaceful spot is known for its dramatic dams and reservoirs. It’s perfect for walking, cycling, or just a quiet escape. Spend some time in the town of Rhayader (the middle of the A470); you’ll also find plenty of dog-friendly pubs in Rhayader.
Sunflowers in North Wales
Living in the South, I’m not aware of any sunflower fields in North Wales. Websites have let me down. However, if you know of any, please contact me so I can add them to the list.

Farringtons PYO Sunflowers
I’ve included the sunflowers at Farringtons as it’s not far across the border and incredibly easy to travel to from Monmouthshire or even Newport and Cardiff. They have many different sunflower varieties, including ‘Giant Sungolds’, ‘Firecrackers’ and ‘Russian Mammoth’ sunflowers, so there is plenty to choose from.
