When I started my blog in May 2018, I never intended to get any type of recognition for it. I started because whenever I met clients or professionals who knew about my role in marketing, they would ask what they needed to do to drive more traffic to their website. Blogging is what I would always recommend. I decided to practise what I preach. Plus, I enjoy writing! But, I’ve been shortlisted in the House 21 Blogger Awards.

Update: I won! Best Feature Blog for the review of the Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels at the House 21 Blogger Awards
We all know there’s more to blogging than just writing an article – that in itself can be challenging for some. It has just become a creative outlet for me. I use it as somewhere for the articles that magazines and online publications I work with did not ‘print’. As well as my adventures and vacant ramblings.
I love sharing my tips in my Marketing Series, using the knowledge I use day in day out in my day job. My passion has been writing about my home town in the Cardiff Series. Last week I shared Ghost Stories from Cardiff, and I a looking forward to sharing more about its unique history.
Here we are a year and a half later with flipping award nominations!
As I entered my 30s, it has become more difficult to get friends together – even for a coffee. Especially the ones who have children. We have to plan our nights out, trips to the theatre, and catch-ups weeks and months in advance. With my boyfriend working shifts, including 3-3 weekends a month, I have more free time to socialise, but not many to spend the time with. I started attending blogger events in Cardiff, just to meet new people, and get to visit some of the fantastic venues that I probably wouldn’t have entered before.

I went to my first House 21 in March 2019. It was held at Cathedral 73, where we enjoyed a delicious brunch and inspirational talks. I got to hear from Simone Venner a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Megan Fflurr a beautiful Cardiff creator who is just launching Pethau and got photography tips from Manon Houston. I have used these tips too! As well as these rousing events, the House 21 team are also incredibly encouraging. As part of their website, you can upload your blog posts, and they can introduce you to brands. This is how I was able to collaborate and write about the Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels.

What awards have I been nominated for?
I have more than one nomination. Can you believe it?! Here are the award categories I have been shortlisted for;
Best Beauty Blog Post

It really is the taking part that counts!
I know everyone says it; “I don’t mind if I don’t win” but deep down they do. Honestly, I mean it! I do not expect to leave the event in December with any awards, especially as I have seen the competition. Just absolutely delighted that I have been chosen. I can not wait to get glammed up, drink a prosecco or two and mingle with all of the Cardiff blogger community.
A massive thank you to House 21, and congratulations to everyone who has been nominated. Good luck, and I’ll see you at the awards ceremony!
