What makes Gran Canaria a great holiday destination

Let’s face it, one of the most fun things to do in life is book a holiday! It’s so much fun, getting together with the people you want to go away with and beginning to narrow down the places you want to visit. And one of the places we think you should visit this summer is Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria is a beautiful place to visit, in fact a stunning place to visit, that ticks so many boxes! It’s not only got crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches, but it’s a foodie destination and perfect for solo travels, couples breakaways or family holidays – there are many holiday rentals in Gran Canaria as well!

No matter the time of year, you’ll never be stuck when thinking about what to do in Gran Canaria. You’ll be able to sightsee, swim in the sea, enjoy a range of cocktails and meals and indulge in its culture at the museums.

We have put together our guide on what makes Gran Canaria a great holiday destination.

The Beaches

One of the main reasons tourists flock to Gran Canaria is because of its beaches. You’ll never find it hard to find a wonderful beach to sip on your cocktail (or two) whilst reading your book. Most beaches have a whole range of restaurants nearby which you can dine at as well as water activities which you can enjoy such as snorkelling or kayaking – you should definitely book a snorkelling excursion when visiting if you get the chance. Gran Canaria has many wonderful diving spots as well.

The Food

Part of being on holiday is enjoying the food that is available in the local area where you are staying. Gran Canaria is not short of delicious restaurants that you should be dining at. Whether you are after an affordable eatery or an award-winning restaurant, Gran Canaria caters for all with a wide range of cuisines for you to try.

The Sports

Calling sports fans, Gran Canaria is very sporty, with most sports readily available for you to enjoy on your breakaway. Competitive or not, you can enjoy surfing, paddle surfing, deep sea diving, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, sports fishing, running, football, volleyball, tennis – the list can keep going. Once you’ve booked your holiday to Gran Canaria, take a look at the area you are going to stay in and see what sports are readily available. A lot of the hotel resorts will have their own sporting options available that you can enjoy as well. Beginners can have lessons or advanced people can enjoy meeting other advanced people and play competitively.

Gran Canaria is not a destination that will disappoint! Once visited, we are sure you will want to book a return holiday to visit again. And you will be convincing others to go as well.

What is your favorite thing about Gran Canaria and when will you be visiting again? Are there any points that you think we should be adding to our above list? What is your favourite thing to do when on a breakaway? Let us know in the comment box below, we would love to hear from you.
