The best thing about an online murder mystery is that you can play detective and find the killer from the comfort of your own home. Keep your slippers and your comfies on, and wear your hair in that messy bun. By joining a murder mystery virtual party, it doesn’t matter if you’re on your own, or if you want to play a murder mystery with friends online.

Ad | I have always wanted to go to a murder mystery weekend. Just like on TV, a group gathering together (a novelty in itself these days), a member of the party snuffing it and then working through the clues to find out who did it? I’d also love to get dressed up like a 1920’s flapper with some serious Jessica Rabbit vibes. One day I guess…
Now we’ve got Zoom, we can experience a murder mystery at home. Suppose you are looking for things to do on the weekend or planning ahead for alternative Christmas parties. In that case, a murder mystery evening at home with Tall Tales Mysteries could be just what you’re looking for.
Murder is Frightful Review
Who is the murder mystery killer?
Ahead of the event, you are sent a case file with an overview of the storyline, characters you will meet on the evening and even a map of the crime scene with some additional clues. The culprit will confess at the end of the evening, and explain how and why they did it.
When entering the online murder mystery event, you meet the host, who explains the format of the evening. You do need to be confident enough to talk on video, as you are put into break out rooms where you can ask questions to the characters. However, there is nothing to be nervous about, everyone is in the same boat.
The characters are what you want from a murder mystery. At the Murder Is Frightful event an elderly recluse has died in an unexplained way. Those closest to her have been informed that they have to spend the night at her haunted house before the will is read.
I got to meet and interrogate her solicitor, and the niece who thought she was the only living relative. Plus, a long-lost sister, an ambitious author who is writing the old lady’s memoir and a TV ghost hunter who wants to film his show at the home.
The actors were brilliant! They knew their parts and never broke character, whilst being fun and witty with those who were cross-examining them. After months of lockdown, local lockdown, firebreak and lockdown part 2, it was also exciting to interact with people from across the county.
Can you solve this murder mystery?
Can you play murder mystery online? Yes, you can! The plotlines are so creative, and as you go through the evening, you will judge the characters motives, question and overthink their actions, and change your mind many times.
There are plenty of upcoming events so you can play murder mystery on Zoom. All you will need to do is decide which murder mystery party is best to play.
Who Sleighed Santa
What could be more festive than killing off Santa? (Hopefully, a replacement will step in and deliver all the Christmas gifts to all the good boys and girls!) The Christmas murder mystery, Who Sleighed Santa is running on Saturdays throughout December. Plus, it only costs £12 per household.
A Virtual Murder Mystery Weekend
Murder mystery events can be done from the comfort of your sofa, for a whole weekend. Sweet Murder is taking place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd January 2021. You can be a regular attendee, with the usual integration and one-on-one sessions where you can ask suspects all your burning questions. Or you can be a mini character, and give your acting skills a stretch. Depending on which package you pick it’s between £40-50.
Are murder mystery parties fun?
I had a brilliant time! It was certainly something different. Only working 16 hours a week because of flexible furlough, I don’t feel like I am mentally challenged. An event like this will make you listen, strategically think through scenarios, and analyse photographs and documents.
Those with you, and the others you meet online, will keep things entertaining. I guarantee you’ll finish the evening with a smile on your face. As it is going to be challenging to see and interact with all the important people in your life for some time, a murder mystery evening is going to add that extra bit of fun to your regular Zoom catch up. See what Tall Tale Mysteries have to offer.
Disclaimer: I was invited along to the event, in return for an honest, unbiased review. I only work with companies that I like and think you’ll love too! I had a great evening, and would gladly pay to attend future events.
