Polperro Beach
This small, hidden beach in Polperro is the perfect spot to kick back and soak up some sun – when the tide is out. Double-check the tide times before you visit. It is just outside the harbour walls, away from the hustle and bustle of the village. Descend the stairs to the beach, sheltered by the cliffs and caves at the harbour entrance.
At low tide, you can opt for a dip in Chapel Pool, a beautiful tidal pool that can be found just up and along the cliff path.

Is Polperro Beach Dog Friendly? Yes, dogs are allowed on the beach all year but must be on leads between 10am and 6pm.

Beaches near Polperro offer the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation for a classic family holiday. Whether building sandcastles, paddling in crystal-clear waters or simply soaking up the sun, these Cornwall beaches are made for unforgettable seaside escapes.
Talland Bay Beach
Talland Bay, a short drive or a lovely walk from Polperro, is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. This secluded beach, with its soft golden sand and crystal-clear waters, is one of Cornwall’s best-kept secrets. The beauty of Talland Bay is so intriguing, it will leave you wanting to explore every inch of it.
You can walk to it via the South West Coast Path. It’s an Area of Outstanding Beauty and a Heritage Coast. The sandy beach is ideal for swimming when the tide is in. When the tide is out, you can see a boiler from a French steam trawler, Marguerite, which ran into the rocks in 1922. You’ll also be able to explore the rock pools and spot sea creatures, from hermit crabs to suckerfish.

East Looe Beach
Right in front of the old town is East Looe Beach, or Looe Bay Beach as it’s also known. Get to it by working through the town centre or via Port Looe. It has a gently sloping sandy beach, making it popular with families for swimming and building sandcastles. A second rocky beach (which is dog friendly) can also be accessed. You’ll see paddleboarders and wild swimmers in the colder months.
🚗 Plenty of facilities are nearby, but it is a walk from the main car park (about 15 minutes).
🐾 There is an all-year ban; dogs aren’t allowed on the beach. However, many people let their dogs dip in the water when the tide is out to the right of the Lifeboat station.

Lantivet Bay
For those who fancy a little adventure, Lantivet Bay is a fantastic option. This beach is slightly off the beaten track, which means it’s often much quieter than some popular spots. You’ll need to take a scenic walk to get there but trust me, it’s worth it. Lantivet Bay has rugged cliffs, golden sands, and sparkling clear waters, creating an idyllic setting that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another world.

Lantic Bay is a true gem, with its turquoise waters reminiscent of the Mediterranean and soft, white sand that beckons you to sink your toes into it. Yes, the walk down from the car park is steep, but the breathtaking beauty of the beach makes it all worthwhile. Once you’re there, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered your own secret cove.
Perfect for swimming on calm days, sunbathing, or just lying back and listening to the waves. Bring your own supplies, though – there are no facilities here. It’s just you, the sea, and one of the most beautiful views in Cornwall.

Polruan is an ancient fishing village across the water from the better-known Fowey. Built on a very steep hill, Polruan is bounded on three sides by water. Polruan is also the starting point for the South West Coast Path, which can be found at the top of St Saviour’s Hill and is well-signed and posted throughout the village.

Readymoney Cove
Readymoney Cove is sheltered by cliffs close to the mouth of the River Fowey. The sandy, secluded beach overlooks the village of Polruan. It is popular with wild swimmers, and a slipway is available for SUPs, Kayaks and paddleboarders.
There is also a small café and gift shop, where you can get a freshly made hot drink. The mugs are plastic and reusable, collected in a bucket after you’ve finished. Bathrooms are also available. St Catherine’s Castle is also accessible from the beach. It was built by King Henry VIII around 1530 and was designed to defend Fowey Harbour from the French invasion. You will also be rewarded with beautiful views of the Fowey Estuary. There are so many things to do in Fowey!
