When you’re a business owner, you put a lot of thought into your products. You want to make sure that you are delivering the highest quality possible to your customers.
This is the only way you can be sure that they are going to keep coming back for more. Return customers are the lifeblood of your business. The only way to keep them is to make sure that you’re always delivering quality.
When you send a product to your customer, it must be delivered safely and intact. The best way to do this is to ensure that your product packaging supports safe delivery. Here are some tips to make it easy for your packaging to do this.

The Materials
The materials that are used for packaging your products need to be durable. Some of the most popular ones are corrugated cardboard or rigid boxes. They can withstand a lot of handling and transportation without being severely damaged.
If your products are going long distances and are moving from one transportation to the next you need to make sure that you’re using tough material. If you don’t do this the packaging itself will be damaged and the product inside will take a hit as well.
The end result is that you will have a very disgruntled customer on your hands.
The worst-case scenario is that you’re going to have to refund your customers and you’re going to lose a good amount of cash. To make sure that neither you or your customers face a losing streak, get the packaging right.
Provide Cushioning
You need to make sure that you are cushioning your products properly especially if they are fragile. Remember that your production costs will go down the drain when you don’t package your product properly.
You need to put equal emphasis on buying quality cushioning as you do on the product itself, and packaging. Thankfully, there is a wealth of cushioning materials out there that you can use.
You can use foam inserts, bubble wrap or tissue paper. Remember that different types of packaging will need more or less of these. You need to decide what the product needs and place this in your budget.
Have Secure Closures
You need to make sure that you have secure packaging closures. Securely sealing your packages with strong adhesive tape or other types of secure closing methods helps to prevent anything from accidentally slipping while the product is being shipped.
Just sit down and try to have a strategic plan about how you are going to securely close up every product that you are shipping. It’s also a good idea to put these strategies into focus in real-time so that you can know whether or not they are effective.
If necessary, package the product in the intended way and ship it to someone you know. You can then find out exactly how the product was delivered and in what condition. This way you can realistically decide what is going to work and what won’t.
Get the Sizing Right
It’s important that you get the sizing right when you are packaging your product. The last thing you want is for the items to be shifting around in the box and be slushed around from side to side while they are in transit. Products that dance and wobble in packaging rarely have happy endings.
This is a surefire way to cause a lot of damage. When deciding if the packaging is correct you must be sure that the product will stay steady as it moves from one location to the next to get to your customer.
Label Carefully
Package handlers at transport companies do not deliberately try to damage your products but they often do, because they don’t know the fragile nature of what may be inside. One of the things you can do is to make sure that you’re giving correct handling instructions.
In fact, when you are transporting items that are extremely fragile you should clearly mark the words fragile on them. If handlers need to hold a package up a certain way, you need to indicate that as well. Alerting handlers of the nature of the contents is a great way to make sure that everything gets to its destination in one piece.
You have to make sure you do your due diligence no matter how difficult it is. Remember once you get it right the first time it’s smooth sailing all the way to your customers after that.
