Cardiff Food and Drink

Wales has always been known for a great place with quality food ingredients – meat, seafood and dairy produce. The people of Cardiff are now ditching the chain restaurants and dining on salivating street food, decedent dinners and more moreish mouthfuls than you can dream of. Cardiff is a foodies delight.

When I review restaurants, I always included a score of what I think is essential and what I would like to know about the establishment. Not to take away from the hard work of others, but I think many of these factors are ignored by food bloggers or reviewers. I need to know the kitchen is clean, and food is stored correctly. It is also important to me that food is made on-site, and if possible, using local produce. If I can make it better at home, I don’t want to eat it – processed and microwave food is an absolute no for me. Eating out is a luxury, so it should be enjoyed. My Cardiff food reviews always include:

  • Food hygiene rating
  • Cleanliness
  • Decor
  • Staff appearance / temperament
  • Quality of food
  • Value for money
  • Homemade
  • Ease of making a booking
  • Bathroom
